The pain is in your head

Since the beginning of time, man has sought to understand the mechanisms of pain. Lately, science has made great advances in this field, allowing us to explain more and more why some individuals live with pain even though nothing can be explained after medical investigations.

It's all in your head!

In a figurative way, the brain uses three GPS to ensure immediate survival. Vision, the vestibular system (balance, perception of movement and orientation) and the proprioceptive system (the body's ability to produce movement thanks to information transmitted by our body).

This information collected allows the brain to create a virtual map of the body in its environment. It is with this map that hundreds of scenarios will be produced and chosen every second to ensure survival during a task.

It is with this map that hundreds of scenarios will be produced and chosen every second to ensure survival during a task.

But if the information provided by our GPS is not clear to our brain, it will not be able to produce an accurate map of the body and its predictions will be too risky. The system will then choose to reduce strength, decrease the ability to move and even produce pain. These pains are signals sent by our brain to warn us that one of the GPS is out of order and to push us to take the necessary actions to remedy the situation.

These very real ailments will appear without any identifiable cause or trauma through conventional medicine, but a qualified Kinesiologist could correct the dysfunctions of these GPS and allow the athlete to alleviate or even break out of this pain cycle.

With good GPS and maps, you'll be on the right track!
